This was an unexpected buy because I wanted to get the L’Oréal micellar water at first.
I ended up picking this because it’s S$1 cheaper LOL. At the same time, I honestly thought they aren’t much different.
Just micellar water anyway.
I have tried the Garnier for oily combo skin one though, so I’ll compare them a little below!
What: Bio Essence Bio-Water Micellar Water

Look & Feel
It comes in a 400ml bottle similar to the Garnier one.
Cap is pretty tight so I don’t worry about it leaking!
The texture is just like water. I also don’t think there is any scent in particular either.
One other reason why I decided to get this was due to its promise of “Bio-Water”. (As explained above in the quote)
Honestly, I’m just removing my makeup and it probably doesn’t help my skin much during that time. But I thought that if I could use something better for my skin, why not?
Furthermore, this is free from fragrance, alcohol, mineral oil and colorant. Even sensitive skin can use it!
YMMV still applies here haha.
Application
I use the Lotte round pads, they are great for removing makeup btw. They are embossed and soft, so it doesn’t scratch your face or feel rough.
Generally, I need just two pads to make sure I have no makeup left. Or at least 95%.
When I’m lazy, I go into my bathroom and just use the innisfree Green Tea Cleansing Gel-to-Foam. That doesn’t remove as thoroughly but I usually use a cotton pad with my toner to cleanse my skin once more after showering.

Hey, sometimes I actually use my fingernails to scrap some leftover makeup / sunscreen that still lingers around the sides of my nose bridge and nose crevices.
You’ll be surprised to see the hidden residues lol. I am.
So I did a test to see how many pads I have to use before everything is totally removed.
This was after a whole day of work btw. Foundation might have rubbed off a little here and there.
The first two cotton pads that I used (not pictured) were pretty foundation-coloured but when I got to the third cotton pad, this was all that’s left.
Well, the second one was mostly residue from the makeup breaking down from the micellar water, as it’s ‘water’, it made my face soaked so I definitely need a second cotton pad to remove it.
That explains the foundation-coloured residue even on the second pad. It happens with the Garnier micellar water too btw.
The plus point of this though is that this didn’t even leave any leftover makeup or sunscreen. It passed my fingernails test! Hooray.
This definitely removes at least 98% of your makeup.
If I were to compare this to Garnier, this surprisingly removes makeup better than the Garnier one!
With the Garnier one, it doesn’t pass my fingernails test haha.
Now to sum this up!
Yes
- No fragrance, alcohol, mineral oil and colorant
- Scentless
- Reasonably priced for 400ml
- Easily available (for me)
- Doesn’t irritate my eyes
- Removes makeup decently
- No irritation or breakouts from it
- Good for all skin types
No
- Not portable
- Finish in 6 months once opened
Am I Repurchasing?
This was pretty standard tbh. I expect this to work the way it did. Whether or not I would repurchase… I guess if I find that other micellar water that I try wouldn’t match up to this, I would.
For now, it’s hard to say haha. Am I expecting too much? LOL.
Overall Rating:
What’s your favourite type of makeup remover? Oil? Wipes? Balms? Or micellar waters? 🙂
