Somehow it’s April 2020 and I don’t even remember how the year started!
Time definitely passed really quickly.
The coronavirus has also been crippling our daily activities with quarantine and lockdowns in countries. I really hope this will end soon but it might be tough.
I’m also itching to get my karaoke fix, which made me want to create a soundproof room in my future house so I can sing whenever I want.
Anyway, back to today’s review!
It’ll be a body and face lotion review. I use it largely for my legs but it works well on my face too. Except that I don’t really like the smell of the lotion.
More on that below!
What: Illiyoon Ceramide Ato Lotion
Price: S$25 (from Shopee)
Weight: 350 ml
Period-After-Opening: 12 months
I was looking for a body moisturiser recently as I began to focus on moisturising my legs.
They were always dry and if someone or something scratched me by accident, there would be a white line of evidence (if you know what I mean).
I have a post on moisturising your body below if you’re interested!

I also mixed a few drops of the Vitamin C serum from Some By Mi (review link below) into this moisturiser before spreading the concoction on my legs – to brighten them since I have some slippers and shoe lines hehe.
It is a little hard to tell if it works but since I had to use it up quickly due to the oxidisation, why not.

The serum helped to make it less thick.
Not that the original consistency is very thick, but it seems to have a gel-water kind of texture.
Other than using this with my serum, I have also tried it with my KraveBeauty AHA toner (review link below) for mild chemical exfoliation on my legs.

Some photos below could help you to see it better.
Let’s continue with our LAYNA criteria, shall we?
Look & Feel
This came in a 350ml white and blue pump bottle that dispenses well.
I personally use 2 full pumps for my legs, with the remainder on my thighs and elbows.
Despite posting on the importance of moisturising, I still haven’t gotten the habit of moisturising my arms or body, oops.
ILLIYOON’s patented ingredient, Ceramide Skin Complex™ claims to keep the skin hydrated by increasing your skin’s ability to increase water retention.
It is a type of ceramide capsule exclusively developed by Amore Corporation and Aestura – product details from Olive Young.
Application
As I briefly mentioned above, with a gel-water consistency, it spreads well on both body and face.
This isn’t marketed as a body lotion but somehow since it is sold in a large volume bottle, I actually assumed it was just for my body.
Until recently, I saw from somewhere (honestly cannot remember) that it can also be used as a facial moisturiser – dumb me.
So I tried it too! I didn’t have any adverse reactions or felt it was too thick.
For the humid weather here in Singapore, I actually thought it was very lightweight and suitable for oily or normal skin types here.
After spreading it well, you can see the final texture below.
They claim to be fast-absorbing and non-sticky, but only after the 1-hour mark of it settling down does it seem to feel non-sticky. (applies only for my legs, when applied on my face, it absorbs pretty well probably due to me applying way lesser.)
It also contains soybean ferment extract, which they claim is effective in reducing skin irritation, and enhances your skin barrier to keep it healthy gradually.
With or without foundation / sunblock, it did not interfere and if you’re looking for a simple and lightweight (plus cost efficient) moisturiser, this could be for you.
However, one downside to this could be the fragrance.
From ingredients and product details, they did not put any fragrance but there is this particular smell which reminds me of fresh vegetables?
As to what kind of vegetable, I’m unable to pinpoint it haha but definitely raw and fresh (??).

Another downside – for dry skin friends – it may not be moisturising enough if you have dry to very dry skin.
The lotion does seem to be less sticky than others that I’ve tried but it also seems to last a shorter time – probably 2 – 3 hours plus before it feels like your skin again haha.
It could be a good or bad thing depending on how you like your body moisturiser to last.
Now for my summary!
Yes
- Lightweight
- Great for sensitive, oily or normal skin types / those in tropical weather
- Free from paraben, animal derivatives, mineral oil, pigment, fragrance, PEG sulfate, triethanolamine, and imidazolidinyl urea
- Non-irritating
- Easy to apply
- Non-greasy
- Affordable if used as just a facial moisturiser
No
- Fresh vegetable smell when applied on face (does not linger)
- May not be moisturising enough for dryer skin types
- Does not last very long (2 – 3 hours plus)
- S$25 for 350ml might seem a little expensive for a lotion that is used mainly for your body
Am I Repurchasing?
There are a lot more moisturisers that I want to try. Clearly for now, it hasn’t win any top spots. I haven’t found a body lotion that I really like either.
As a facial moisturiser, it is very cost efficient and functions well as a basic one.
Hope this review was thorough enough and till next time!

Just received and the smell is like bamboo? Idk but you might be right with the vegetables. I don’t like it. I love how watery and light it is but the smell is :((((( i wish they just added a small amount of fragrance than this smell.
