Hello everyone!
Welcome to Beauty Beyond Twenty,
a blog that focuses on beauty-related posts and just a couple of lifestyle (and dating?) posts that I might casually share on this blog.
I don’t think you’d be curious on why I started this blog, but I’ll just mention it anyway since this is my first post.
Couple years back, I have always wanted to try blogging as a hobby. I even had my own personal blogs before on the common Blogger.com, WordPress.com, tumblr.com and more of the others that people around my age have used. If you wish to know, I’m currently in my early 20s, nearing the mid-20s 🙁
Anyway, as I was mentioning about my personal blogs, they were mainly used to function as a blog where I vented my anger, frustration on schooling, friendship problems and other personal reasons. I remembered privatising it as I did not want random people reading it when I don’t even know them. I ended up inviting only a couple of friends I knew in real life to share my stories with.
However, over the years, I realised that I have taken a liking and interest in the beauty section, i.e. makeup and skincare. It was this that sparked a budding interest back then about blogging my reviews on products I love or hate.
Now, I know there are tons of other makeup and skincare review blogs on the Internet, and I’m just a tiny little blogger in this blogosphere. The main reason for me to start this blog was solely because I want to share my thoughts on things that I have used before.
I, for one, have a habit of searching for reviews and reading several ones before actually purchasing the product.
Firstly
I am skeptical with regards to skincare and makeup due to the fact that everyone faces different skin issues.
You already know this one:
What works for me, may not work the same for you.
This was the reason why I became a little ‘OCD’ towards reading several reviews before purchasing. Hehe.
Secondly
There are not many Asian people with my skin type and troubles who review (or rather, I have not seen much) about certain products, that brings me to the second reason. I want to be of help to those who have skin types similar to mine. If you don’t already know from my profile, I am oily on my T-zone, dry on the U-zone. I have been through one cycle of Roaccutane which lasted almost 12 months and cured the majority of the random bouts of acne that I used to have when I was 12-19 years old.
That’s about 8 years, though I can’t compare to some of you guys who have been through so much more than me.
However, those years included times when I was insecure to the point that I would even put my thick and heavy Revlon Colorstay Liquid Foundation just to head over my aunt’s house, which was only a 10-minute walk away.

Lastly
As I attempted to cook and bake more throughout the years, I have also grown to enjoy it. Sadly, not the part of washing dishes yet. I am actually hoping to get a dishwasher when I build a house with my future husband, also my current boyfriend. ???? If you can already tell, this last reason is not related to beauty but more of lifestyle and cooking. I did not want this blog to only be about beauty, but I also wanted to share my excitement about what I do once in a while.
Therefore, I would not say that this is a makeup review blog, I would refer this to be my beauty and lifestyle blog instead, where I share many different things with you all.
- Saving tips
- Makeup/Skincare reviews
- Beauty hacks
- Cooking (we’ll see how it goes)
- Relationship advices
- How I feel about life
After all, if I am not excited enough to blog, it wouldn’t be fun to read a post without soul. That was my motto, when I started BeautyBeyondTwenty (BBT).
I wanted for this blog to be honest and truthful to myself so that you can trust whatever you see here. I also aim to reply all comments on this blog to the best I can.
Okay that’s it for now. I might have written too much for an intro blogpost. Nonetheless, thank you for stepping in and even reading till this far. I applaud you for that as I’m still a budding writer as I am a budding reviewer.
Do let me know if you feel there are certain ways I can review the products better or just anything you wish to consult me (relationships, anger management, beauty, cooking, etc), I promise to give you a reply. Hopefully, a satisfactory answer at that.
Take care! Subscribe for more updates!
