Review | KraveBeauty Matcha Hemp Hydrating Cleanser

KraveBeauty Matcha Hemp Hydrating Cleanser Featured

Does the brand seem familiar? Hehe. It’s the second product I’m reviewing from KraveBeauty and this time it’s the cleanser!

What’s more, it’s made with 40% matcha!

I have been using the Sukin Foaming Facial Cleanser before this and it was really a gentle product to use.

However, its Period-After-Opening is 6 months and I don’t really finish my products in 6 months hahaha as I only wash my face once a day (nightly).

It’s been almost 2 years I think, since I’ve washed my face with warm water in the mornings and it’s been great.

Now, moving on to the review!

What: KraveBeauty Matcha Hemp Hydrating Cleanser

Key Ingredients of the product and what it does
Matcha

One of the most antioxidant-dense sources on the planet. Basically, we thought it’d be awesome to splash matcha every day on our skin.

Hemp seed oil

HIGH in essential amino acids, HIGH in linoleic acid, oh yeah, it’s so HIGH-drating! Great for all skin types, even for oily skin peeps. Hemp seed oil has a natural antibacterial property that helps to relieve inflamed skin conditions.

Coco-betaine, Coco-glucoside, Decyl glucoside

A group of mild and gentle cleaning agents. These surfactants are less likely to compromise your skin barrier whereas harsh surfactants (like SLS) can strip away everything including your natural lipids. And these, you don’t want to surrender.

Vitamin B5 & Sodium PCA

Skin-barrier strengthening ingredients replenishing hydration.

Look & Feel

You may click to view a larger image. This was the packaging and I thought it was really cute haha.

At the top of the box is also a close-up of a matcha drink with some air bubbles!

KraveBeauty Matcha Hemp Hydrating Cleanser Product

Then the actual product was in this smooth-feeling plastic (?) material that doesn’t really feel like plastic LOL.

The back of the product are all in Korean and I’m not sure if it’s because I bought it in Korea or is the one sold in the US different.

Translation time!

I read it and it roughly translates to talking about how:

“The cleanser removes impurities while maintaining the chok-chok (moist) feeling after washing this off.

It is also a low acidity (pH 5.0 – 6.0) cleanser which strengthens the skin barrier. The Matcha and Hemp Seed fills the skin with moisture and nutrients”.

The paragraph below ‘PRESS, RESET.’:

It says about “how our skin isn’t dirty. Due to the fact that we think it is dirty, we use alkaline cleansers that gives us a ‘squeaky clean’ feeling which actually destroys our skin barrier eventually.

As your skin barrier becomes weak, your skin starts to get dryer and more sensitive.

By using a cleanser that is similar to our skin’s pH which also removes impurities and respects our skin barrier, it will be the start of a healthy skin.

If you find that washing your face in the morning is bothersome/troublesome, using just water to wash your face is fine.

Always take care of your inner beauty, and give only what your skin really needs”.

Haha that took a while to translate to English alongside testing my Korean skills. I don’t think there are any inaccuracies but if you’re Korean and you think it’s wrong, please notify me and I’ll make the changes!

Btw, please don’t copy this description without crediting me for translation if you’re using this for your own review, I wouldn’t like that. Thank you!

Application

KraveBeauty Matcha Hemp Hydrating Cleanser Application

The first time I tested this on my hand, right before washing my face, I used two fingers to see the consistency.

And I almost laughed HAHA. Because to be very honest… It reminds me of the very thick mucus you get when you cry badly and your nose starts getting clogged.

LOL. You may watch this video to get a sense of how the texture and consistency is like:

Demonstrated by Liah hehe.

The next video below is if you’d like to know how the antioxidants and other ingredients work to strengthen your skin barrier, also the milder surfactants used in creating this product.

This product was very hydrating. It works similarly to my previous cleanser in the sense that it’s really gentle. However, this product was easier to spread around my skin.

The previous cleanser obviously foamed up slightly more as it’s a foaming facial cleanser. This although doesn’t foam up as much as I expected, I was fine with it because it really shows how mild the surfactants are.

I’ll link it to shampoos with Sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) and the L’oreal shampoos (Elseve) that market themselves as Sulphate-free.

I’ve used it before so I know that it doesn’t foam up as much or as easily as normal shampoos with SLS.

After washing this off, it feels just like how my previous cleanser made me feel.

It didn’t strip the natural oils of my skin and I didn’t feel dry or squeaky clean.

I already know that I’ll be liking this cleanser from the first night I used it.

It doesn’t smell a lot like matcha, just a slight hint.

Yes

  • Hydrating
  • Doesn’t strip natural oils or feel tight/drying after
  • Has Matcha, Hemp Seeds, Oats and Almonds
  • Includes Vitamin B5 (What it is – www.timelessha.com)
  • And Sodium PCA (Sodium PCA is a derivative of naturally occurring amino acid proline; it is used as a conditioning agent – EWG.org)
  • Uses mild surfactants
  • pH 5-6
  • Vegan-friendly, cruelty-free, and formulated without fragrance, essential oil, colorant
  • Price is reasonable for the quality
  • Works well with a cleansing device too (which I will review next week)

No

  • Hard to get out of US and Korea unless through unofficial retailers
  • It doesn’t wow me despite all the claims because after all, it’s just a gentle cleanser (but that’s all I need)

Am I Repurchasing?

If it’s possible, I would. It may be a little too expensive for me if I were to purchase it in Singapore through Shopee or Qoo10 so that deters me from repurchasing it. However, if KraveBeauty ever ships internationally and the rates aren’t too bad, I would get it through them!

Overall Rating:

4.5 out of 5

0.5 off because it’s not shipping internationally! Haha but I know it’s a little difficult so I’ll patiently wait till it is.

You may take it as a 5 out of 5 for me when it ships internationally.

What other cleansers should I try? Have you tried this? Let everyone know your thoughts! I would like to hear yours too 🙂

With ????,

  1. Hi, thank you for writing this. I enjoyed your review.
By the way, may I know which cleanser did you refer as “previous cleanser” ?

    Thanks a lot! 🙂

    1. Hi Fildzah, I was using the Sukin foaming cleanser. I’m actually using another new cleanser at the moment from Avalon organics and I like it too. Both were really affordable either way 🙂

      Welcome!
