Review | NUXE Gentle Toning Lotion w/ Rose Petals

Nuxe Gentle Toning Lotion

Hey hey hey

I will be giving a very in-depth review of the NUXE Gentle Toning Lotion with Rose Petals. I am finished with this bottle already. And I did consider repurchasing because of how gentle it is on my skin. However, I changed my mind after trying a toner that I got from someone (not sponsored) as I was almost done with the NUXE Toner.

The review for that toner will be up soon, so if you’d like to know, please come back again to visit or subscribe to me for updates! I’ll link it here when it’s up too!

It’s the first review on this blog, by the way. I thought that it’s right that I should start with BASIC skincare.

To be honest, I never really believed that toner helped in anything till I tried more alcohol-free toners and this was one of the few that I really liked.

On MakeupAlley, it’s rated 4.2 / 5 with 75% willing to repurchase. (at date of posting)

Without further ado, let’s begin and see how it does with the LAYNA criteria!

Look & Feel

Nuxe Gentle Toning Lotion Review

It comes in a baby pink 200ml plastic cylindrical bottle with a simple cap. There’s a small opening but I found it sufficient enough for when I doused my cotton pads with the toner. It delivers a very clean and organic message to me, which I like. I realised that I do steer away from more complicated and colourful packagings, or am I just someone very simple haha.

Application

From the NUXE website,

This gentle toning lotion with Rose Petals soothes, refreshes and puts the finishing touch to make-up removal. The lotion does not contain alcohol, and does not dry skin.NUXE

I may refer to this Toning Lotion as a toner, but the texture is slightly more viscous than normal watery toners. I suppose that was why it is called a Toning Lotion. Anyway, in regards to their claim as quoted above, I agree 100%. Everytime I use this, it gives a really refreshing feeling and it does feel good in the morning. Plus, it is rose scented though I have to say I wasn’t expecting that kind of rose scent. It definitely isn’t an artificial scent but I got used to it very quickly.

They also mentioned this on the website:

This gentle toning lotion with Rose Petals soothes, refreshes and puts the finishing touch to make-up removal. The lotion does not contain alcohol, and does not dry skin.

Although I did mention that the rose scent doesn’t smell artificial to me, it seems that Parfum/Fragrance is the 5th ingredient on the list. It did not make me sensitive or break out, in fact, it helped calm my skin a lot. So if you’re okay with fragrance, do give it a try.

Also, if you noticed Benzyl Alcohol despite knowing it does not contain alcohol, Ann Marie explained it very nicely:

Benzyl Alcohol is a colorless liquid that has a mild, pleasant aromatic scent. It’s also called an “aromatic alcohol,” and is used as a preservative, as a fragrance ingredient, as the active ingredient in head lice treatment, and as a solvent, which simply means that it’s used to dissolve other ingredients to make a smooth formula or solution. Ann Marie

In small concentrations, it will not pose a problem but if you would like to know more about this specific alcohol, I found Ann Marie’s post very informative. You can click right here.

Everything aside, I had no issues using it near my eyes as well. Never felt a burn, not even once. It even cleans the makeup residue that I have left over after double cleansing. I really really liked it.

Yes

  • Makes my skin feel clean and refreshed
  • Gentle on face, even the eye areas
  • Not drying
  • Not sticky
  • Gets rid of dirt and makeup residue neatly
  • No leftover weird residue
  • No tight feeling even when used without moisturiser on my oily t-zone skin (in a humid city)
  • Scent is pleasant and goes away after a few minutes

No

  • My face gets oily about two hours after (but I’m fine as I blot it away gently with my tissue, after that it’s pretty okay)

Am I Repurchasing?

If I did not try my current Tony Moly toner, I would have gone to get this already. So yes, I would get it if I had no other options at the moment.

Overall Rating:

4 out of 5

That’s it for my review of the NUXE toner. I will be posting my next review of the toner that I am loving next week so stay tuned! 🙂

Leave a comment if you were thinking of trying it and if you did already, let me know how you felt about this product so other readers can leach off of your help!
