SANA Namerakahonpo Emulsion NA Featured

I got this on the night before I left Osaka and let’s just say, I like this moisturiser/emulsion/milk lotion. Haha. There are so many names for this product but its main property is to moisturise your skin.

It’s such a last minute decision to get this because we wanted to finish using the leftover Yen we had in Japan and I randomly thought of this product.

I’ve seen it many times, but knowing that I’m in the country that made it, I just decided to try it since it’s cheaper.

They do have a skin lotion (like an alcohol-free toner that’s more moisturising), a jelly cream and a cream too.

Almost wanted to get the jelly cream soley because of the consistency (LOL) but it was sold in a tub so I didn’t get it.

I got this at 820 Yen but the bottle at the back writes 900 Yen so I might have gotten it at a sale, I can’t exactly remember if it was including tax or not either haha.

Btw, I accidentally scheduled this for an upload the day before (18 September) along with my Travel Tuesday post (Argh), so if you received an email or notification that I uploaded this but was unable to see it, I’m sorry!

The review of this is finally up!

What: SANA Namerakahonpo Emulsion NA

Price: 820 Yen

Weight: 150 ml

Period-After-Opening: 12 months (I assume as I can’t find it on the bottle)

From the Tokiwayakuhin website,

Emulsion na containing fermented soybean milk. Intense hydration soothes the skin and helps retain moisture of soybean Isoflavone between skin cells. No fragrance, No artificial colorant, No mineral oil.

Click for the list of ingredients
Water, Alcohol, Glycerin, Squalane, Lactobacillus/Soybean Extract Ferment Filtrate, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Extract, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Protein, Butylene Glycol, Arginine, Carbomer, Stearic Acid, Glyceryl Stearate, Sodium Stearoyl Glutamate, Cetyl Alcohol, Sodium Polyacrylate, PEG-8 Beeswax, Methylparaben.

They did not formulate it with parfum, artificial colours and mineral oil but alcohol and paraben are present.

It’s weird because I never once felt like this has alcohol? It’s so moisturising (not too much for oily skins at all) that I don’t sense alcohol in it.

But once I tried to smell the product, I actually do smell a tinge of alcohol now.

Apart from alcohol and paraben, it does contain glycerin, squalane, fermented soybean milk, soybean extract and soybean protein.

I elaborated a little near the end of the review so you know what’s so good about soy in general.

I’m also okay with the Methylparaben in this as it is a preservative and there are many debates about paraben in skincare.

So if you’re on a search for one without paraben, maybe this isn’t the one for you.

I’m not too sure about what the NA from the name of the product means, Sodium? LOL.

Anyway, ingredients were copied from Skincarisma.

Now, let’s move on, shall we?

(Btw, this foundation that I reviewed last week is my current favourite go-to foundation!!! I love it. My boyfriend thinks it looks natural and radiant on me too, although it provides great coverage.)

Look & Feel

SANA Namerakahonpo Emulsion NA product

From the get-go, the product comes in a translucent plastic packaging and when you see closely, you can see the amount of product you have inside.

It’s not very big either and the cap is very secure and tight.

Application

SANA Namerakahonpo Emulsion NA Application

I have no problem with this texture, as I’ve used a couple of moisturisers that have a milky lotion feel.

This, of course, was no exception and I do like it.

As a oily combination skin, my skin loves this and my sunscreen applies just nice on top of it.

Moisturisers can be a tricky step for me because they can tip over the line of being too greasy and being too lightweight (in which produces more oil for me).

However, this was superb. Was it the work of the alcohol and the moisturising properties of the Soybean?

SANA Namerakahonpo Emulsion NA Application

I’m not too sure but I never felt too oily with this, it was just nice.

Btw, do note that the application on my hands would be different on your face because my hands did not go through any sort of layering toner step.

Just bare dry skin absorbing this product.

According to LiveStrong.com,

Custom Moisturizing:

Soy may be particularly beneficial for people with combination skin. Soy is sometimes referred to as a “smart” moisturizer because of its innate ability to moisturize dry areas while decreasing oiliness in other areas, notes Skin and Aging.com. Moisturizers that contain soy may have softening and smoothing effects while evening out skin tone.LiveStrong

There apparently are many benefits to soybean in skincare products and though there needs to be more research on it, I’m always open to trying things out like this that helps with wrinkles, skin firming and reversing sun damage.

Yes

  • Great for oily or oily combination skin
  • Moisturising yet lightweight
  • Affordable
  • Available in Singapore and online platforms
  • Soybean benefits through topical application

No

  • Sold for S$19.90 in Singapore BHG (almost double the price I paid in Japan)
  • Alcohol and parabens could be a No for some of you

Am I Repurchasing?

I would repurchase this (and source for a cheaper place to purchase it instead of getting it in the departmental stores in Singapore) if I am unable to find a better one!

Overall Rating:

4.5 out of 5

Yet another 4.5 / 5 review. I’m getting surprised at how many products have been surprising me lol.

Talk to you soon!

Let me know if you have any moisturisers you love and would like me to try. The oily combination girl in me will love you for it.

With ????,

Signed by Layna
