Who Am I?

I’m Layna, a 20-something beauty and skincare enthusiast (also dog and cat lover) who lives in Singapore, where you’d either be drenched in sweat ☀ or rain ☔.

I decided to blog so that I can share my beauty reviews, relationship advices and even random $aving tips! Psst. I like bubble tea. And sashimi. Salmon.

Wew, hi 👋🏻 . I’ve been away for almost 7 months! This is the longest break I’ve had on my IG and blog. And it’s pretty much needed because I recently moved house and work was piling up.

How’s everyone been? It doesn’t feel like it was a long period but I’ve started missing the interaction with everyone and I’ll probably start posting again soon! (Fingers crossed)

👋🏻 HEY GUYS! I’m (kinda) back! It’s been about a month plus into my new job so I’ve been pretty busy in the day time. My nights are spent relaxing and playing some games. I’ve been trying to get back into the groove to review things but it’s really hard?!?!

Makes me wonder how I did it last time. 🤔 anyway, it’s been raining almost everyday in Singapore now. This photo was taken literally minutes before a downpour lol.

Btw, I bought these 4 items because they were cheap/on sale and I wanted to try them. I actually really like the Aritaum idol real lash fixer. It doesn’t give much volume but it rly fixes! - it’s a primer / fixer / natural mascara all in one.

🌺 the innisfree blusher is also pretty and subtle. It’s not too pigmented so you can layer according to your preference.

And that mentos no sebum mineral powder 😂 I can’t not get it (I also needed it haha)

I also decided to try the Laneige glowy lip balm - not opened yet - because I wanted to try something new. 🥰

Here’s sharing the buys from Japan last October (yes, in 2019). It’s overdue photos that I didn’t like but decided to just post.

I should probably throw that mascara away now 😂 (it still works tho 😣).

Oh, btw I had an allergic reaction to the DHC lip balm, so that was a wasted buy. It happened during my trip too so I couldn’t wear lip products except TFS lip cream for half of my Japan trip. What a bugger. Happy memories though! Can’t wait to travel again ❤️.

The first to be reviewed is their physical sunscreen! This is the kind that dries semi-matte and yet does not feel drying on my skin.

Apart from that, it gives me a slight tone-up effect and also goes well when mixed with my foundation / applied before foundation - though that really depends if your foundation does go well with this.

The hours this keeps my oil at bay is pretty much the whole day with minimal oil at the end of the day. Keep it mind that there’s zero alcohol in this product as well.

I’m a little excited about using that but okay, I shall not put too much expectations on it. I also decided to get the 1% Salicylic Acid version, hence the blue tub.

If you’ve heard about Stridex, you might be more familiar with the red one that has 2%. I thought if this worked, then maybe I’ll go up the next level!

Somehow, I always thought foam cleansers (no matter how much they market it as non-stripping) will make my skin feel dry/tight after.

But what these two cleansers share - apart from being matcha/green tea - is the fact that they make my skin feel soft after cleansing.

I also enjoy complementing the neogen with my IUIGA cleansing device; I do a half pump on the device and dot the 5 areas on my face (forehead, nose, both cheeks and chin).

A little goes a long way for both; the reason why my MHHC lasted so long for me 🥰 and how it looks extra used with the faded texts lol.

What were some misconceptions you had of certain products till you tried them?

Other than this foam cleanser ‘prejudice’, I used to think that most kinds of AHA/BHAs would sting your skin whenever you use it - way before I got deep into skincare.

Also, the Harakeke extract apparently has more moisturising effects than the aloe vera and were used by the Maori people for skin stress and dryness as mentioned by The Saem 😯.

I try to find formulas that aren’t sticky / absorbs fast for nighttime use as I like sticking my legs into my blanket without much tackiness. I think Aveeno did a pretty good job with this one, there’s almost pretty much no scent for it too.

As for the Nivea one, you do need to blend it well as there is a bit of white cast if you don’t. Once it’s well blended, I don’t think people can tell you applied sunblock on your body, though they may smell a hint of it.

It also has a BIT of tackiness but since it’s used in the day, I don’t think you’ll really notice it unless your legs / arms are constantly rubbing each other lol.
